Rod Whiteley got his PhD in throwing related injury from the University of Sydney the same year that he completed the Australian College of Physiotherapy’s inaugural intake of specialist sports physiotherapists, which was more years ago than he cares to remember.

Prior to then he had worked for about 20 years in sports physiotherapy – principally professional Rugby League, Rugby Union, and Baseball in Sydney, Australia. As an enthusiastic but ability-challenged baseball player since the age of 10, he has always been interested in throwing-related injury.

7 years ago he moved to Aspetar Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha Qatar where he has worked with physios and other health care practitioners from over 30 countries in a unique sports medicine environment, and in this context has increased his research output while maintaining clinical contact.
